Join Me in Supporting Our Local Veterans - A Message from Edward Lopez
Dear Friends and Neighbors in the Sutherland Shire,
My name is Edward Lopez, and Cronulla has always been more than just my home—it's a sanctuary where the ocean promises peace. However, life took me far from these shores as I embarked on a journey with the Australian Defence Force and the Australian Federal Police. I've traveled the world, experienced the adrenaline of flying in helicopters, diving in oceans, and the camaraderie of serving alongside some of the most skillful and unforgettable characters—my mates for life.
But this story isn’t just about adventures. After years of service, I returned to Cronulla with more than just memories; I came back with permanent injuries and several mental health conditions. Retirement hasn't been the peaceful sanctuary one might expect. Despite the challenges, if given the choice, I'd do it all over again.
However, not every veteran's story has moments of peace, and many face hardships greater than mine. That’s why I've started a group dedicated to supporting our Shire Veterans and their families. These heroes and their loved ones need our help—now more than ever.
